ePTFE (Expanded Polytetrafluoroethylene)
Expanded Polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) is a highly versatile, porous form of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene, which is chemically inert and widely known under brand names like Teflon. Unlike traditional PTFE, ePTFE is produced through a specialized expansion process that involves stretching PTFE under controlled conditions to create a microporous, fibrous structure. This 3D network of interconnected nodes and fibrils gives ePTFE unique physical and mechanical properties, making it distinct from its solid PTFE counterpart.
